Appearance and Growth Habit:

  • Features narrow, linear, curved leaves with green centers and white-to-pink variegation.
  • Displays a low-growing, creeping, or prostrate habit that hugs the substrate under strong illumination.
  • Grows extremely slowly compared to standard aquarium stem plants.

Optimal Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: High light intensity is necessary to maintain its compact form and vibrant pink coloration.
  • CO2 and Flow: Requires strong, stable CO2 injection (40–50 ppm) paired with good water circulation and gas exchange.
  • Water Parameters: Prefers a neutral-to-slightly acidic pH (6.5–7.5) in clean, biologically stable, mature aquariums.
  • Maintenance: Highly sensitive to algae due to its slow growth rate. Keep surrounding areas clear of faster-growing plants that can crowd or shade it out.
