Bucephalandra pygmaea ‘Bukit Kelam’ (formerly known as ‘Wavy Green’) is an undemanding, slow-growing epiphyte from Borneo. It features dark green, elongated leaves with wavy margins that grow to about 5 cm in length. It thrives in low to moderate lighting and water temperatures between 20°C and 28°C.

Bucephalandra pygmaea ‘Bukit Kelam’ (formerly known as ‘Wavy Green’) is an undemanding, slow-growing epiphyte from Borneo. It features dark green, elongated leaves with wavy margins that grow to about 5 cm in length. It thrives in low to moderate lighting and water temperatures between 20°C and 28°C.

Key Requirements & Care:

  • Placement: As an epiphyte, attach it to rocks or driftwood using superglue or thread. Never bury the creeping stem (rhizome) in the substrate, or it will rot.
  • Lighting: Moderate lighting is ideal. Too much light can encourage algae, while medium-to-low light keeps its foliage compact and healthy.
  • Parameters: Adapts to a wide pH (5.0 to 8.0), making it suitable for both nano cubes and general community tanks.
  • Maintenance: While Bucephalandra can survive in low-tech setups, adding liquid fertilizer and CO2 will significantly improve its coloration and growth rate.
