Dymax CO2 Indicator Solution 10ml is a specialized liquid reagent designed to monitor carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in planted freshwater aquariums. Used in conjunction with a glass drop checker, it helps aquascapers maintain the ideal gas balance for healthy plant photosynthesis without endangering fish.

Key Specifications & Features:

  • Volume: 10ml dropper bottle.
  • Function: Real-time tracking of dissolved CO₂ and corresponding pH trends.
  • Compatibility: Optimized for the Dymax Co2 Drop Checker but compatible with standard aquarium glass drop checkers.
  • Health Benefits: Prevents dangerous CO₂ spikes that can suffocate fish, while ensuring sufficient carbon levels to deter algae blooms.

Color-Coded Reading Guide:

The solution changes color via gas exchange inside the drop checker’s air pocket. Readings take roughly 1 to 2 hours to update after initial submersion or gas adjustments.

  • Blue: CO₂ levels are too low, plants lack nutrients for healthy growth.
  • Green: Optimal CO₂ concentration (typically calibrated to around 30 ppm), perfect for plant growth and fish safety.
  • Yellow: Dangerously high CO₂ levels; reduce gas output immediately to protect aquatic livestock.

Quick Usage Instructions:

  1. Invert your clean drop checker glass piece.
  2. Add 5 drops (or fill the bulb reservoir halfway) with the indicator solution.
  3. Carefully submerge the indicator and attach it via suction cup inside the tank.
  4. Position the unit in a high-visibility zone with good circulation, away from the direct stream of your CO₂ diffuser.
  5. Replace the fluid every 4 to 6 weeks when it begins losing its vibrancy and fades.
