The Tangerine Tiger Shrimp (Caridina serrata) is a highly sought-after freshwater dwarf shrimp prized for its vibrant, translucent orange coloration and bold, dark vertical tiger stripes. They serve as an excellent “gateway” species for aquarium hobbyists transitioning from basic Neocaridina species (like Cherry Shrimp) to more demanding Caridina lines. They are notably more hardy, active, and adaptable than standard Bee or Crystal shrimp.

Optimal Water Parameters :
- Temperature: 18–24°C
- pH: 6.0–7.5 (Slightly acidic to neutral is preferred)
- General Hardness (GH): 4–10 dGH
- Carbonate Hardness (KH): 0–2 dKH
- Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 100–200 ppm
Aquarium Setup :
- Substrate: Active buffering soil (like Shrimp King or Nature Soil) helps naturally maintain the slightly acidic conditions they thrive in. A dark substrate will also make their fiery orange color pop.
- Filtration: A gentle sponge filter is essential. It provides a massive surface area for them to graze on and prevents tiny newborn shrimplets from getting sucked into an impeller.
- Flora & Hardscape: Decorate heavily with live plants like Java Moss, Bucephalandra, and Indian almond leaves to provide essential hiding spaces and promote natural biofilm growth.
