The genus Eriocaulon is very extensive with an estimated 400 -800 species. Eriocaulon cinereum is a real rarity for the plant lover. Good lighting, very soft water and high CO2 levels are important parameters for a successful culture. The small and hedgehog-shaped habit of the plant is ideal for the foreground for any aquarium size. The plants look especially beautiful in a shallow carpet of Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’ or Micranthemum tweediei ‘Montecarlo’. Due to it’s minimal size, Eriocaulon is often used in aquascaping – as a small botanical highlight, so to speak!
