Care & Requirements:
- Lighting: Medium to strong lighting is recommended to bring out the most robust red and purple coloration.
- Substrate & Fertilization: As a root feeder, it requires a nutrient-rich aquarium soil. Root tabs will significantly boost its growth and colour.
- Water Parameters: Adapts well to various water parameters but prefers soft to moderately hard, slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.5 – 7.5, temperatures 22-28°C).
- CO2: While not strictly required, CO₂ injection promotes faster growth and larger, more vivid leaves.
Planting Tips:
When purchasing Echinodorus ‘Aflame’, it will often arrive in its emersed (terrestrial) form, which features greener leaves. Once submerged in your aquarium, it will begin to melt back slightly before growing its distinctive, dark red aquatic leaves.
