  • Colour: Deep gray, dark blue, or slate-gray with fine white lines.
  • Texture: Wrinkled, fissured, and rugged, mimicking large mountain ranges.
  • Style: Perfect for Iwagumi layouts, nature aquariums, and terrariums.

Impact on Water Chemistry:

  • Limestone-based: Composed largely of calcium carbonate.
  • Hardens water: Slowly leaches minerals into the tank, raising general hardness (GH), carbonate hardness (KH), and pH over time (often stabilizing around 7.6 to 7.9).
  • Caution: Not ideal for soft-water or blackwater fish species that prefer a low pH.
