Anubias Nana ‘Pinto’ is a highly sought-after, artificially selected variegated variant of the classic Anubias barteri var. nana.
Key Characteristics & Visuals:
- Distinct Variegation: Features a striking mosaic of creamy white and dark green marbled patterns.
- Unique Leaves: No two leaves are completely identical, ensuring a custom look for your aquascape.
- Compact Footprint: Stays tiny and compact (reaching about 5-8 cm in height), making it ideal for nano aquariums or foreground detailing.
- Reduced Chlorophyll: Because its white patches lack green chlorophyll pigments, it grows significantly slower than standard Anubias.
Care Requirements:
- Lighting: Requires medium to high light compared to standard Anubias varieties to maintain its white coloration and promote growth.
- Placement: It is an epiphyte. Do not bury the rhizome in the substrate, or it will rot and die. Secure it to hardscapes like black lava rocks or dark driftwood using cyanoacrylate super glue gel or thread.
- CO₂ & Nutrients: Not strictly required, but CO₂ injection and regular liquid fertilizer dramatically speed up its slow growth and aid adaptation.
- Water Parameters: Thrives in temperatures between 22–28°C, a pH of 6.0–7.5, and soft to moderately hard water.
