It is widely celebrated in the aquascaping community because it produces an abundance of side shoots, allowing it to form a dense, bushy thicket much faster than other varieties. It is classified as an “Easy” difficulty plant, making it ideal for beginners while remaining a staple for advanced aquascapers who need rapid background coverage.

• Growth Rate: Medium to fast.
• Height: Typically reaches 15 to 40 cm tall.
• Width: Individual groupings spread between 7 and 12 cm wide.

Ideal Water Parameters & Tank Conditions:

• Lighting: Low to medium. Under intense, high-output lighting, the leaves will develop a striking bronze or reddish-brown hue.
• Temperature: Performs best between 22°C and 28°C.
• CO₂ Injection: Not strictly required. It thrives in low-tech setups, though adding carbon dioxide will yield much more compact and robust growth.
• Substrate & Nutrition: It prefers a nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs. If the tank lacks iron or macronutrients, the lower leaves may turn yellow or drop off completely.

Propagation is straightforward. Simply use sharp aquascaping scissors to cut the stem just above a leaf node. Strip the leaves from the bottom 2 cm of the cut shoot and press it directly into the substrate. The cutting will establish new roots within days, while the original stem will sprout two new side shoots where you made the cut.
