Limnophila sessiliflora (commonly known as Ambulia or Asian Marshweed) is a highly adaptable, fast-growing aquatic stem plant native to Southeast Asia. It is widely used as a beginner-friendly background plant because it creates a lush, feathery texture and absorbs excess nutrients to naturally combat algae. It serves as an excellent, less-demanding alternative to the notoriously sensitive Cabomba plant.

Care & Tank Requirements:
- Lighting: Low to high. Under low light, stems grow “leggy” or stretched. High light brings out compact growth and reddish hues at the tips.
- Water Parameters: Hardness of 2–12 GH and a pH range between 6.0 and 8.0.
- Temperature: It thrives best in warm tropical environments ranging from 22°C to 28°C.
- CO2 & Nutrients: CO2 injection is optional but promotes denser, more intricate, feathery leaves. It primarily draws nutrients from the water column, meaning regular dosing of liquid fertilizer is highly beneficial.
Growth & Maintenance:
- Growth Rate: Exceptionally fast. In ideal setups, it can shoot to the surface within a single week.
- Pruning: Regular weekly trimming is required. If left unchecked, it will blanket the surface, stealing light from slower-growing species underneath.
- Propagation: Incredibly easy. Simply snip the top 10–15 cm of a healthy stem and push it into the substrate. The remaining bottom portion will rapidly shoot out new lateral branches.
