Dwarf Emerald Rasbora (Danio erythromicron) is a vibrant, peaceful nano fish endemic to the high-altitude. It belongs to the danio family and is highly prized for its striking turquoise-blue vertical stripes, orange fins, and compact size.

Tank Setup & Water Parameters:

• Tank Size: 20L minimum.
• Environment: Heavily planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots. Floating plants and driftwood help block intense light and mimic their natural shallow-water habitat.
• Filtration: Gentle flow is crucial. Sponge filters or low-flow hang-on-back options keep them from getting stressed by currents.
• Temperature: 20–26°C.
• pH Range: 7.0–7.8 is ideal, though they can tolerate 6.5–8.0. They prefer neutral to moderately hard water.

Diet & Behaviour:

• Diet: Omnivorous micro-predators. They excel on a diet of high-quality micro pellets, crushed flakes, and tiny live or frozen foods like baby brine shrimp or daphnia.
• Social Structure: Must be kept in a school of 8 to 12+. Keeping them in small numbers makes them incredibly shy and reclusive.
• Compatibility: They are excellent in peaceful nano community tanks. Great tankmates include small rasboras, neon tetras, corydoras, and adult dwarf shrimp. Avoid housing them with Celestial Pearl Danios (Danio margaritatus), as they can easily hybridise.

Breeding Notes:

They are continuous egg-scatterers. If conditioned on live foods in a heavily planted setup with dense java moss, they will readily spawn. Parents will eat their own eggs and fry, so a dedicated breeding tank or removing adults is necessary to raise a sizeable generation.
