Selaginella uncinate is also known as Peacock Fern or Peacock Moss, is a low-growing, creeping terrarium plant from Tropica that features shimmering iridescent blue-green foliage. It is grown emersed above water and forms a lush, dense ground cover.

Growing Guide:

• Light: Provide bright, indirect or filtered light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves and dull the blue iridescence. Lower light levels actually enhance its blue shimmer.
• Water & Soil: Keep the growing medium evenly moist and airy at all times. Do not let it dry out, but avoid standing water or waterlogged soil. Use a well-draining, organic-rich terrarium substrate.
• Humidity: Thrives in high and stable humidity (75% or above), making closed or semi-closed tropical terrariums ideal.
• Planting In Vitro Cups: Gently rinse the sterile gel off the roots before planting. Divide the tissue culture into smaller portions and space them out along the foreground or hardscape base.
• Maintenance: It grows vigorously once established and responds very well to regular trimming to keep it neat.

How to Prepare and Plant:

• Unpack: Open the sealed Terra 2 Grow! cup.
• Rinse: Gently wash away the clear nutrient growth gel from the moss under cool, running tap water.
• Divide: Cut or pull the dense moss clump into 6 to 8 smaller, manageable portions using sharp scissors or your fingers.
• Place: Gently press the portions onto damp, well-draining soil, or anchor them directly into the crevices of wet rocks or driftwood. Keep the enclosure closed initially to lock in the vital humidity needed for acclimation.
