Bucephalandra ‘Brownie Blue’ is a highly sought-after, slow-growing epiphytic plant from Borneo. It features rich, deep green to dark chocolate leaves that shimmer with iridescent blue, purple, or violet highlights under aquarium lighting. It is perfect for nano tanks, foregrounds, and attaching to hardscapes.

Care Requirements:

  • Placement: Epiphyte. Attach to driftwood or rocks using glue or thread. Never bury the rhizome in the substrate, as this will cause the plant to melt or rot.
  • Lighting: Low to moderate. Shaded areas will help develop the deepest bluish tints.
  • Water Parameters: Temperature 22-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5.
  • CO₂ & Nutrients: Not required, but CO₂ and liquid fertilizers will enhance growth and coloration.
  • Maintenance: Low. Trim older or damaged leaves to encourage new growth. It is susceptible to algae if lighting is too high or water parameters are unstable.
